Job Description



Minimum of one year recent acute care setting is required. 

With minimal supervision, the Perioperative R.N. plans, prepares and provides individualized perioperative care  by using the nursing process.  Employees supervised include L.V.N.s., ORTs. and Schedulers.  Responsible for the equipment, supplies and inventory of the department necessary for the care of our patients.  Handles confidential information regarding patient records, department and hospital activities. Requires little supervision.  Makes daily nursing judgments and moderate to hard decisions involving interpretation of general policy and procedure. Has some input into budget regarding equipment. Inter-relates with other department personnel on a daily basis. Takes care of patients from age pediatric to geriatric. Performs all work with accord to the mission, vision and values of Sierra View Medical Center.

An individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.  BLS certification is required or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.  Must have a maintain ACLS and PALS cards of obtain within six (6) months of assignment to department.  Six (6) month time frame is at the discretion of the department director.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
                    
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.
