Infection Prevention LVN 

*Shift: 8:00A - 4:30P

POSITION SUMMARY:
  • The Infection Preventionist Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing, DPSNF or designee and partners with the Medical Director, Director of Staff Development (DSD). Partners with balance of DPSNF leadership team as appropriate.  Working with the DSD and leadership team, continuously updates processes that ensure a system of care that promotes sound and scientific infection prevention principles and practices. This individual is accountable for decreasing the incidence and transmission of infectious diseases between patients, staff, visitors and the community. Through strategic planning, leadership and consultation, leads and directs a robust team in the identification and implementation of infection prevention goals and objectives throughout the DPSNF. Other primary duties of this position are to educate, conduct surveillance and participate in the organization-wide Infection Prevention Program and its activities.  Assumes eight (8) hour, five (5) day responsibility and accountability for assuring the department achieves the mission and clinical expectations for the assessment, treatment, and care of patients and is competent to deliver care appropriate to the ages of patients served. In the absence of the Infection Prevention LVN, the DP/SNF Clinical Manager will coverer. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/License/Certification:
  • Must have and maintain license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of California.
  • Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
Experience/Skills:
  • Must have one (1) year experience as a LVN providing direct patient care in a long-term care facility in Infection Prevention.
  • Must have one (1) year experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microbiology, Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases, Aseptic Techniques, and current practices.
