Healthcare Interpreter - Full Time

*Shift: 7:00A - 3:30P

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the VP of Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive & Chief Academic Officer, the Health Care Interpreter performs a variety of interpreting activities both English and Spanish to facilitate communication between patients, families, hospital staff and healthcare providers.  Must also have substantial knowledge of Medical Terminology in both languages.                                                                                                                                          
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/License/Certification:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Healthcare Interpreter Network (HCIN) membership or State of California Interpreter Certification is required.
  • Current BLS is required or obtain during onboarding process.

Experience/Skills:
  • Previous experience as a Health Care Interpreter in a clinical setting is preferred.  Ability to speak, read and interpret medical and technical language in Spanish (or other required language) is required.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology is required.
