Acute Hemodialysis RN - Full-time
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California and current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
Must have two years of experience as a Hemodialysis RN in an acute/chronic care setting with training in Peritoneal Dialysis followed by at least six months experience in Peritoneal Dialysis. Exceptions may be made to provide the Peritoneal Dialysis training should the need arise.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Communication/writing skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required. Competent in medication calculations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
Under the supervision of the Medical/Surgical RN Clinical Manager, the Acute Hemodialysis RN delivers safe and therapeutic Hemodialysis treatment to the chronically ill patient with Chronic Renal Failure in the Acute Hospital setting. In addition to Hemodialysis, the nurses who are trained to work in the Acute in-patient setting also deliver safe and therapeutic Peritoneal Dialysis. The Acute Hemodialysis RN is responsible for the assessment, treatment and care appropriate to the ages of the patients served and demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours which may include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call in the Director's absence. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.
