Registered Nurse - Float Pool - Full-time
RN’s hired from outside of SVDH to work in the Float Pool must have a minimum of one year nursing experience, and must meet the requirements for each area in which they will work.
Areas to which an individual Float Pool RN may be assigned to work will be designated based on that RN’s training, experience and proven competency:
ICU: All Critical Care Competencies must be demonstrated and documented. ACLS required.
ED / PACU: All competencies must be demonstrated and documented. ACLS required. PALS required. CPI within one year of hire.
L & D: Experienced L & D nurses, only. All Labor and Delivery Competencies must be demonstrated and documented. Required is an Advance Fetal Monitor Class within the last 2 years, NRP, and ACLS.
NICU: Experienced NICU nurses, only. All NICU Competencies must be demonstrated and documented. Required is NRP and STABLE.
CDU: STARS class and Pediatric Medication Test must be completed within 1 month of hire.
TELEMETRY: Cardiac Monitoring module and competencies must be completed
Under the general direction of the Unit Director and Charge Nurse, independently provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the unit. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View District Hospital Department of Patient Care Services and the nursing profession in a positive manner.
Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served, i.e. Neo-Nate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; possesses knowledge of growth and development; and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for these patient groups.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.
