*RN Clinical Manager - Full Time (days)
Day Shift - 6:45am - 3:15pm (variable)


Position Summary:
  • Under the general direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Clinical Manager independently provides holistic, individualized care using the Nursing Process for patients routinely seen on the unit.  Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care.  Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills.  Contributes to the Sierra View Medical Center's Department of Patient Care Services and the Nursing profession in a positive manner.
  • Collaborates with the Department Director to provide 24-hour, 7-day/week management oversight of the department.  Will be responsible for ensuring the department and all individuals in the department achieve the vision and clinical expectations for the assessment, treatment, and care of patients as appropriate to the ages of patients served.  Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs.  Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups.

Responsibilities/Duties:
  • In absence of Charge Nurse, assumes responsibility of the scheduling board, assignments (including call coverage and assurance of daily charge entries.)
  • Assists with peri-operative patient care, needed to provide for patient safety, continuity of care and to assure staff breaks.
  • Collaborates with Directors of Surgery and Materials Management in addressing physician requests for peri-operative supplies and equipment, maintaining fiscal awareness.
  • Collaborates with Director of Surgical Services in meetings with manufacturer vendors.
  • Ensures Central Processing Department (CPD) compliance, efficiencies and productivity in daily operations, including instrument processing, and emergency supplies and equipment processing and distribution.

Experience/Education/Minimum Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have evidence of leadership skills, successful interpersonal relations, and accepting increased responsibility in Supervision, Administration, and Education.  Two (2) years clinical experience in the OR.  Must have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.  BSN required or in progress to be achieved within 18 months of acceptance into the position. Complete peri-op 101 module within 18 months of acceptance to the position.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.  Must have and maintain current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification. A national certification in related field identified within 90 days of hire. The national certification will be identified and the time frame to complete the certification will be approved by the respective VP within 90 days of accepting the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours which may include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call in the Director's absence. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.Your position has been defined as exempt (Exempt employees are paid on a salary basis as their duties may include more complex tasks that require them to work inconsistent or longer hours on a weekly basis. Exempt salaried employees also may be obligated  to work as many hours as required to fulfill their responsibilities.) therefore you may have the ability to work remote as long as your VP has given prior approval.  In the event remote work is required 100% of the time or for a defined period of time for a medical accommodation, a full telework agreement must be completed and approved by both your VP and the President/CEO before remote work begins.
