A Bachelor's degree in health information management, project planning, healthcare informatics, computer science or forensics or equivalent experience is preferred. Must have 2-5 years of work experience in privacy, compliance or healthcare field.   Experience in healthcare with knowledge of existing and emerging federal and state requirements related to privacy and security of health information. Bilingual in English/Spanish (speaking, reading, writing) preferred.
 
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented and have strong interpersonal skills. Must have experience in the preparation and presentation of educational materials. Must have experience in public speaking and presenting in front of groups. Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism to handle sensitive and confidential information. Ability to follow through, meet deadlines, anticipate requirements and build relationships.
 
Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning skills. Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision. 
 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Effective time management skills to permit working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
 
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have demonstrated data entry skills.  Type 40-50 wpm.  Computer terminal experience and basic working knowledge of commonly used business software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and e-mail.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
 
Under the supervision of the Chief Privacy Officer, the Privacy Coordinator will work with the Chief Privacy Officer and other privacy team members to ensure compliance with federal and state privacy regulations including HIPAA, HITECH, other state privacy laws and the organization’s privacy policies and procedures. The Privacy Coordinator will investigate potential privacy breaches and noncompliance with HIPAA policies. The Privacy Coordinator plays a vital role in the proactive privacy program initiative. Assists in the day-to-day management of the privacy incident response process. The Privacy Coordinator will perform monitoring of the privacy compliance tracking tools, conduct analysis and provide reporting. This position will perform trending, analysis and metric reporting related to privacy breaches and make recommendations for control implementation, education opportunities and remediation.
 
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours which may include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call in the Director's absence. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.
